Besides numerous tiny country churches scattered amongst the forests and olive groves of Pelion, in every village square there is an impressive or ornate one. Our favourite churches are in Millies, Kissos, Zagora and in |Agios Taxiarhis in Tsagarada.

Winter: appropriate clothing for protection against snow and rain. Good, strong, waterproof boots recommended. Spring; jackets and sweaters, socks and swimming gear. Summer: swimming gear. It is always advisable to have a lightweight sweater or jacket if staying in the mountains or planning a trip from the coast to the interior in the evening. Autumn: jackets, sweaters and swimming gear.
The acceptance of credit cards on the peninsula is the exception not the rule. There are A.T.M. machines in Zagora, Tsagarada, Millies and Portaria. However, they should not be totally relied upon.
There is a programme of cultural events which take place in various villages on the mountain-side during the summer season. Mostly folk dances, musical events, poetry evenings, feasts celebrating the Patron saints of the various churches.
